DAN GERSTENHABER
SENIOR ASSOCIATE

With an eye for the elegant, a penchant for creativity, and a knack for technical know-how, Dan Gerstenhaber is a daring and innovative lighting designer. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Dan studied lighting design at Salem State College, whose Technical Theatre Program has a national reputation for excellence and distinction. Eager to put his training to use, Dan landed a position in the Electrics Department at the prestigious North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Massachusetts where he spent four years developing both an eye for design and the experience required to succeed in the rocket-paced live event production business. Seeking new challenges, Dan was recruited by High Output Inc, to serve as a rental manager for their Theater and Special Events Department. Naturally looking to expand his repertoire of skills and assignments, Dan also began designing lighting systems for a number of night clubs throughout the Boston area including the famed BIG EASY NIGHT CLUB.

Determined to increase both his industry knowledge and overall project responsibility, Dan turned his attention to Corporate Events and Trade Shows and soon joined AVFX as the Director of Lighting. For five years he oversaw lighting design and production for Trade Show, Concert, and Corporate Events. Clients included BOSE, HOLOGIC, FIDELITY and ESPN.

Possessing rock-solid experience and a growing reputation as a guy who could "get things done," Dan decided to expand both his geographical and professional horizons by accepting a position with Los Angeles-based Entertainment Lighting Services. For three years, Dan designed and produced the lighting and media systems on high performance events throughout the United States for clients including including CSI LAS VEGAS, 11TH HOUR, THE MTV MOVIE AWARDS, THE GUYS CHOICE AWARDS, and THE BET AWARDS. At ELS Dan collaborated with clients and other production colleagues to produce numerous movie premieres and parties for UNIVERSAL STUDIOS, TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX, PARAMOUNT PICTURES, WARNER BROS. SPECIAL EVENTS and other high profile industry accounts.

With Massachusetts pulling at his heartstrings, Dan realized that, as the premiere Lighting Design organization in New England, Available Light was the organization that could best support his ever-burgeoning skill set. It is a match well made as he shares his experience of bringing lighting and media visions to life with a new clientele.
