DONALD CHRISTENSEN, LC
ASSOCIATE Since 2002 Donald has shared with our clients unbridled enthusiasm by combining his artistic sensibility with an unusually adept technical expertise. After receiving his BFA in Theatrical Lighting Design from DePaul University’s Theatre School, Donald’s desire to mix his theatrical vision with cutting edge technology led him directly to Available Light. Donald’s most recently completed assignment was also a major project for Available Light: the reinvention of the 70,000 square foot exhibition program at Liberty Science Center in New Jersey, which opened to rave reviews. Current design/project manager assignments include: the new Connecticut Science Center, the new African Burial Ground Interpretive Center in New York City, the new American Mountaineering Museum in Golden CO. and a major renovation project at the Berkshire Museum. Additional Associate Designer projects include the Sony Wonder Technology Lab in New York, The New England Patriots Hall of Fame, The National Infantry Museum in Columbus GA, and a series of new interactive exhibits for the Library of Congress in Washington DC. Donald also utilizes his theatrical talents designing Corporate Communication projects for Available Light. Clients include: The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Bristol Myers Squibb, AstraZeneca, IBM and the Sony Style retail stores. Before joining Available Light Donald had the privilege of interning for the acclaimed theatrical lighting designer Ken Billington in NYC. In Chicago, Donald was an active theatrical lighting designer for a number of production companies including the Jaboa Theatre Company, Illegal Theatre Company, PR Productions, Blankspace Theatre and The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. He also acquired invaluable corporate lighting experience working as a lighting electrician for companies including Centerstage Productions, Upstaging and Event Engineering. Donald grew up in Bath, Maine where he participated in many local theatrical productions and was awarded the Lighting Design of Merit by the Maine Drama Festival twice running for his lighting design efforts. |
