Amherst College New Science Center

Amherst College New Science Center was a unique project thoughtfully designed through an integrated performance-based process. Available Light worked closely with the design team to integrate the lighting into sustainable design solutions which included customized skylight monitors. An optimized daylighting design was complimented with an energy effective lighting design scheme that took advantage of the translucent skin to highlight the buildings multiple laboratory and research functions. As a 2019 COTE award winner for sustainable architectural design, the lighting highlights the successfully integrated strategies. Precisely planned lighting reveals the architecture while creating a collaborative learning environment.
